
For my own purposes I also wrote another program called EASED, which assembled together System Exclusive packets into composite bulk dumps (this month's subject, by the way) so that I could take snapshots of the internal state of all my MIDI equipment. Exactly the same sort of thing can happen with software - when I originally wrote Movie (described last month), it worked with most of the equipment I then owned and fulfilled the requirements of the original specification.

All cars are beginning to look much the same.


Have you noticed how convergent evolution is taking over the world? Look at any car these days and you will see the effect of wind tunnel tests reflected in rounded contours, smooth bodyshapes, etc.
